Externally run activities

These relate to issues of abandonment, ill-treatment and abuse of minors and involve selecting, co-planning, financing and monitoring projects. Unlike the traditional method used by grant-making foundations, Oliver Twist adopts a role of greater involvement in all phases of the relationship:

  • Oliver Twist directly searches for the most committed and competent organisations in the area.
  • The Foundation does not call for applications but, instead, makes its selections based on direct knowledge of the area and the people within the non-profit organisations and on in-depth independent analysis of what is required.
  • The projects are planned in collaboration with the selected non-profit organisations.
  • The Foundation’s relationship with the non-profit organisations is not solely for the purpose of grant-making, but also for sharing expertise and for mutual growth.
  • It does not limit itself to monitoring the use of the funds granted, but takes the lead in providing managerial and operational support to the organisation for the entire duration of the project.

Oliver Twist currently has externally run projects in two regions of Italy: Lombardy and Campania. It finances projects which involve setting up or implementing services (both daytime and residential) for taking in minors. Head of externally run activities is Angelo Villani, Project Manager of the Foundation.
