Icaro
Luogo -> Napoli
The program is designed for
60 children aged 6 to 13 from the Pendino, Forcella, San Lorenzo and Mercato neighborhoods in
Naples.
The program entails the revamping of the existing child and family center that has been in operation for over 17 years in the premises of the Church of the Divine Love (chiesa del Divino Amore) located in Vico Paparelle al Pendino 32. The center is run by the San Camillo nonprofit organization. The purpose of the program is to reduce dropout rates and achievement gaps, prevent social and family problems by supporting children and their families. A staff of 10 professional educators and about 10 volunteers will deliver individualized support to primary and middle-school children living in the neighborhood, assisting them with their homework and offering them educational opportunities. The children will also have a place where they can meet and socialize with their peers. The center will include a cafeteria for children who cannot eat at home. Through regular meetings and activities the children’s families will be helped strengthen mutual trust and bonds with their children for healthy family functioning.
